what happened during my holiday...

Yep. It's official. Been together for almost five years in two countries and three languages. We've talked about taking the next step for a while now. Today, we stopped by my house to drop some stuff off (after being out of town for the last few days) and there was a FedEx box for DBF. As we were driving to our friend's place, he opened the box and removed a ring. Of course, I was DRIVING and had to pull over so that he could put it on my finger. lol. Silly man. :)

Anyways, it is shiny and small and simple. I keep looking at it and playing with it. And wondering how i'm going to break the news to my disapproving parentals. *sigh*

Happy Thanksgiving!

Your story reminds me of when my brother & SIL got engaged. My brother had it all planned out. He was going to ask her to marry him on Christmas Day, the whole 9 yards. Um, yeah. What did end up happening?

They went Christmas Shopping together and when she went off to go buy him something, he snuck off to buy the ring. It was burning a hole in his pocket and he ended up asking her out in his truck in the mall parking lot. He was too excited not to. LOL!

I much prefer stories like his and yours, instead of super sappy. I know I already congrated you up-top, but I had to wish you congrats again. It's awesome you've found the man for you...and I hope your family will get over it and move on.

*hugs* :D

Oh WOW! Congrats!

And just think, since he gave it to you in November, that means he still has to buy you a Christmas prezzie, too! (Hee. Guys just can't multi-task can they? He could have waited and covered two occasions with one gift.) ;-p

teehee! Thank you all for your kind congratulations. It means a lot to me to have support, especially given my family's lack thereof.

cj, I'm glad you like the ring. I wasn't totally sure about it when I first saw it, but it's growing on me. I did want something simple, after all. heh.

Bridget, lb, speaking of non-sappy stories, the ring didn't fit...it was a size too big. So it was slipping all over my finger. After our visit to our friend, we drove to the mall to find a jeweler to resize it. We had intended to hit up Zales or some other big box store, but right inside the mall entrance was a tiny "jewelry repair" shop. The little old Korean guy manning the place told us it would only take 20 minutes and cost 20 bucks. When we came back, he pulled it out and instead of giving it to me, handed it to my boyfriend so he could slip it on my finger...all nice and right-sized. ha.

I'm soooooooooooooooo flying to where ever you are on the actual day (if you're having one like that). And and, must buy you drink next time. :D
This is soooooooooooooooo wonderful.
Bleh, parental approvals are overrated in light of bliss. They'll accept it.
In the meantime, Congrats!!!
The ring is adorable, very elegant and the simple design is wonderful. :D
