It's not often that my wee blog holds a contest. Primarily because I am too poor to buy loot to give out and also because I'm generally too lazy to organize one. But one of my fav blogger/authors, Carrie Lofty, is coming out with a debut book and although I'm only halfway through my review copy, I can tell you now...it's a good 'un! Fans of historical romance, clever dialogue, and derring-do take note. You want to read this book. (More on this later...I plan to review it this week).
As for the contest. Well, you may have noticed from the cover, that this book is going for the really unbeatable price of $3.99. Seriously? What kind of fun can one find for the bargain price of under four bucks (or the equivalent in your home currency)? This is your contest...write in the comments and give me your best suggestions for fun things that cost less than $4. Winner will receive (obviously) a copy of What a Scoundrel Wants without having to pay a dime. How cool is that? And because I've lived outside the U.S. for most of my life and since Carrie's husband is a Brit, I'll open this up to readers anywhere. You're all eligible...postage frustrations notwithstanding. Go forth and win!
I have the honor of hosting Carrie on the DIK blog for the next three days, so please stop by and see what kind of fun we can cook up.

Me number 1! *g*
Toughie, things for under 4 USD.
Blog hopping! Good way to spend time and free anywhere you can take your computer to a free wifi spot. Panera's is mine. Goes great with lunch or a cup of tea.
Uh. Do I have to keep this commentary clean? A pack of hubba bubba. Bubble blowing contests. Pure win.
Under $4?
I'd say going to the $Tree and buying crayons, a coloring book (or two) and getting down on the floor to color with my nephew. :)
I *heart* the Dollar Tree. :)
I am going with chocolate - less than $4 but oh so yummy! And there is definitely fun potential depending on who you are eating it with!
Crank up the fireplace/firepit. Grab the two dollar hot dogs and buck marshmellows. Skewer and roast!
Fun ensues everytime.
BTW..the hot dog thing? Was great for Thanksgiving :)
Bubbles are always fun or getting a mint steamer and people watching at the mall or Starbucks.
A lottery ticket is sometimes worth the $1 in entertainment value--plotting what you'll do with all that money!
Also, I'm a sucker for Reeces Peanut Butter Cup shapes--right now it's tree season, and those peanut butter and chocolate evergreens always make me smile, right before I eat them. :)
Lisabea, you're at your best when you don't keep it clean. Unfetter yourself!
*waves to everyone*
Ok - I'm feeling sappy today:
Hug my kids - it's free. Even better than that...they hug back. :)
Other than that it's go to Starbucks, buy a drip coffee and read a book - so great!
Free Condoms.
Which sounds like Free Keith, doesn't it? OMG that totally dates me.
Samantha, Next year, I'm going to your house for Thanksgiving.
Double cappuccino ($3.85) at my favorite coffee place, a book, my ipod. Bliss.
I must be getting old. In college, it would have been the free condoms at the Student Health Center and my boyfriend (now husband). ;-)
lol @ free condoms. everyone has such clever ideas. Keep 'em coming! (hahaha, um...that wasn't intended as a pun but whatever)
Hey how much was the trolley in SF, Sula? That there was a DEAL.
You can take the train to Rockefeller Center and watch the tree lighting or you can wait on line for tickets to Saturday Night Live.
$1.50...you could buy 2 and you and a friend could sight see all day long!! :) Good one LB.
Go to the arcade and play.
Buy Rite-Aid ice cream and take a walk in the park.
And of course the best one: have sex.
Taking Carrie at her word and keeping with the apparent spirit of this website (not to mention my own dirty mind), how about some lube? Or batteries for a favourite sex toy?
On a more elevated plain, as I'm currently living in Haiti, a ticket to see RAM - the original voudou rock Gods - is less than USD4. A ticket to see most music acts here for that matter is less than USD4.
Have to say, Sula, that it's pretty reckless to be offering to send the book anywhere in the world. As I have friends/colleagues all over, my nasty mind (twin to my dirty one) started thinking immediately about which country would have the highest postage costs from the States ;-)... I do have the book already, though so you can breathe!!
Carrie - any chances of a romance with the Sheriff of Nottingham as the hero? Forget Christian Slater, give me Alan "cut your heart out with a spoon" Rickman.
Alas, my Sheriff is an evil phuck who prefers cutting to sexxxorin'. No good for me! But I have some srs Alan Rickman love and can relate to your thoughts of turning to the dark side...
I LOVE books that aren't that much money I mean honestly... $3.99??? Come on that's just amazing! :)
I LOVE ALAN RICKMAN.
Just in case y'all care.
alan rickman is sexay. colonel brandon!
ok, lots of great ideas in here. It will be hard to choose a winner. :)
Let's see, under $4, hmmm? How about some chocolate, reading blogs and finding new authors. Although that will cost more in the long run after you by all of the authors' books.
Thanks to everyone for all their great $4 ideas! (I'm filing them away in my idea box. heh.)
A winner has been selected and it's posted on the blog. woot!
