Today was international day at school. Since I have spent most of my life trotting about the globe, I have plenty of interesting clothing to pull out for occasions like these. Today I decided to wear one of my favorite outfits from Mali. I got it in Timbuktu, so in fact it is a better example of the northern, desert tribes than of typical Malian clothing. At the event, they needed extra people to carry flags, so I volunteered to carry Mauritania's since what I was wearing is pretty much standard everyday dress. And I am probably the only person on the campus that actually knows where Mauritania is let alone has spent time there. lol. Annnnyways, it was fun. You can't help but turn a few heads when sashaying across campus in an electric blue gauzy robe that flutters in the breeze. I hunted through my old photos and found one taken of this outfit when I was visiting my parents in England a few years ago. Man, I wish I still could get braids like that done.
